It’s the Little Things

Today, an odd moment of “homesickness” for China: on the elevator in the parking structure, I was unable to close the elevator doors with the close-door button. I read in an issue of The New Yorker before leaving for China that in the United States, close-door buttons don’t actually do anything. In China, though, close-door buttons really do close the doors.
